Evergreen Launches New MultiRoute EDR 53 Regional Tire, Engineered Around Cost Per Kilometer

Evergreen has introduced the MultiRoute EDR 53, a new regional transport tire developed with fleet operators' long-term cost per kilometer (CPK) in mind. Building on the application focus of its predecessor, the new tire combines an updated tread layout, optimized tread depth and improved rolling resistance to address wear, traction and operating efficiency.

A More Compact Tread Layout

The MultiRoute EDR 53 increases tread rubber coverage by approximately 10 percentage points compared with its predecessor, resulting in a more compact tread pattern. Paired with an adjusted tread block height, the design provides a stronger foundation for improved block stability and reduced tread movement — helping control the localized and irregular wear that regional tires face under repeated acceleration, braking and cornering forces. The result is more consistent tread utilization and less usable mileage lost to premature removal.

A More Defined Directional Tread Pattern

The tire also features a more pronounced directional arrangement of angled tread blocks, giving the tread's working edges a clearer orientation to support effective transmission of driving and braking forces — a key consideration in regional service with frequent stop-start operation. Combined with the compact tread structure, this brings traction and tread stability together in a single design.

Improved Rolling Resistance

In the 315/80R22.5 specification, the MultiRoute EDR 53 improves its rolling resistance rating from Class D to Class C, reducing energy lost as the tire rolls and creating potential for lower fuel consumption in everyday regional operation.

Designed with CPK in Mind

According to Evergreen, a commercial tire's true cost extends beyond its purchase price, encompassing usable service mileage, maintenance expenses and fuel consumption. By combining a more compact tread structure, a clearly defined directional pattern and improved rolling resistance, the MultiRoute EDR 53 is designed around the factors that determine value throughout a tire's working life — offering regional fleets a practical new option for extracting greater value from every tire and every journey.
